Today’s Topic: Strength Through Connection

Scripture: Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. – Psalm 92:13, NKJV

Today’s Word
California’s magnificent redwood trees can reach heights of 350 feet and live for 2,000 years. They’re incredibly resilient, withstanding strong wind, storms, and pests that take other trees down. What’s interesting is that their roots are only six-to-twelve-feet deep. The only way the shallow roots can hold up these massive trees is that the roots spread out 100 feet and intertwine with other redwoods’ roots. Against the storms, the whole redwood forest is linked together and stands strong.

Storms may be blowing against you today in your health, your finances, a relationship, trying to push you down, telling you it’s never going to work out, that you have too many obstacles. When you’re planted in a community of faith, your faith gets connected with others’ faith. Before long, you have a support system that cannot be shaken. When the storms come, what would have normally blown you over if you were alone can’t move you. You have others who steady you, encourage you, and uphold you. When we’re all connected, together we can’t be defeated. Together we’re powerful.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for the strength and support system I have when I’m connected to others. Thank You that I can be planted in Your house and that my faith can be joined to others’ faith. Help me to get plugged in and see faith grow and become powerful. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

God knows what we need before we ask. He prepares our way, and He wants more for us than we want for ourselves. When we seek Him first, blessings rain down. The Scripture says, “You can’t please God without faith.” That’s a powerful principle. That means you can be obedient, but have a sour attitude and limited vision, and not please God. You can give, you can love, you can help the poor, you can volunteer, those things are all great. We should do them. But, if you’re not believing for things bigger than you can accomplish on your own, if you’re not expecting difficulties to turn around, if you’re not anticipating new levels, and thanking God that He’s opening doors you can’t open, thanking Him that He’s bringing promises to pass, then you’re not releasing your faith. You have to stir up what God put in your heart.
